American Forces Targeted a 'Large Plant' in Venezuela, President Trump Stated Without Offering Details.

Former President Trump has claimed that US forces hit a "large installation" in the South American country last week. Yet, the former president withheld information about the exact nature or site of the target, and officials have issued no further comment from his administration.

Vague Comments Offered In a Talk Show

"We just knocked out – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a big plant, where the ships depart from. Two nights ago, we took it out. So we struck them with significant force," Trump allegedly informed GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Significance of a Confirmed Attack

If a American strike is verified, it would represent the first ground target hit since the Pentagon began a expansion of US strike forces in the Caribbean region to halt drug traffickers that the former administration alleges operate under the direction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

This stated mission of the military buildup has transformed into a blockade aimed at disrupting the country's crude oil shipments.

Social Media Footage and Official Statements

Trump has for some time stated that US forces are prepared to expand the operations by striking objectives within Venezuela, a move that would in theory require legislative authorization.

Online video circulated online on 24 December seemed to depict an detonation allegedly from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. But, the video or the site in question has not been corroborated.

An administration official allegedly told a media outlet that the former president was referring to a drug facility in his remarks.

Reaction and Current Military Posture

The Maduro government has remained silent on the event the former president described. Additionally, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela concerning it.

The deployment of American forces in the region – a stance some have referred to as a naval quarantine – marks the largest naval operation of his time in office.

Officials have avoided from labeling the operation as a full blockade, but have stated that around 15,000 personnel are positioned across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to implement existing economic sanctions.
